Paul Tanner (born October 15, 1917) is an American musician.
Tanner played trombone with Glenn Miller, and worked as a studio musician in Hollywood. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 to stay with Miller's band. He later became a professor at UCLA, and authored the most used jazz history textbook.
Tanner also developed and played the Electrotheremin, as used on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and the My Favorite Martian theme.
