Pegging (sexual practice) - Definition and Overview

As a sexual practice, pegging is a neologism referring to a woman using a strap-on dildo to penetrate a man's anus, and may sometimes be used for female-female strap-on anal or vaginal sex.

The term was the winning entry in a 2001 contest in Dan Savage's Savage Love sex advice column. In the column, it was a specifically heterosexual term; the competition was held after an observation was made that there was no common name for this practice.

Pegging has recently featured in a number of pornographic movies; the first appears to have been Strap-On Sally (1994), and many imitators have followed, turning this into a niche sub-genre of pornography. Whether this reflects changes in sex roles or simply the thirst for novelty in pornography is unclear.

Pegging is also a practice commonly offered to their clients by professional dominatrices.
