Penrose diagram - Definition and Overview

In theoretical physics, a Penrose diagram (named after Roger Penrose who invented them) is usually a two-dimensional diagram that captures the causal relations between different points in spacetime. The slanted lines under the angle 45° correspond to the light rays. Locally, the metric on the Penrose diagram is conformally equivalent to the actual metric in spacetime.
