Persis Khambatta ( October 2, 1950 - August 18, 1998 ) was a model and actress.
She was born in Bombay, India and at age 15 became Miss India.In 1975 she appeared in a small role in the The Wilby Conspiracy and went on to a brief successful movie career which included her role which she is most recognisable for as Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. She followed this up with roles in Nighthawks and Megaforce but she never really found sucess in film.
Her last appearance on film and TV in an acting part was that of Indian ambassador on an episode of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.
She died of a massive heart attack on August 18, 1998 in Bombay, India.
