Personal Information Manager - Definition and Overview

A Personal Information Manager is a software application that keeps track of personal information such as:

• E-mails
• Address books
• Calendars
• Task lists
• Task scheduling (invitations etc)
• Notices

There are several software packages that do this. Some can also synchronize the required information with a personal digital assistant (PDA), such as a Palm Pilot or similar devices. They are also collectively called Personal Information Management software, or PIM software.
