On February 25, 1977, Peter Gabriel released his first solo album, Peter Gabriel, and started touring as himself, along with a 7-piece band. This was the first album Gabriel had recorded after leaving the progressive rock band Genesis.
Gabriel included a team of talented musicians, including Robert Fripp of King Crimson.
One of Gabriel's more popular songs, Solsbury Hill was also featured on this album, describing Gabriel's depart from Genesis.
