Peter Serkin - Definition and Overview

Peter Serkin (born July 24, 1947) is an American pianist.

He was born in New York city and is the son of the pianist Rudolf Serkin and grandson of the violinist Adolf Busch. His mother, Irene Busch, was also a violinist in the Busch Quartet.

Peter entered the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of eleven, where he studied with, among others, his father.

Peter has collaborated with many prominent musicians and ensembles, as well as being one of the founding members of TASHI. He has recorded for a variety of labels. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife Regina and their five children.
