Dr Peter Toma is the Hungarian-born computer scientist who developed and commericialised the SYSTRANmachine translation system. From 1984 to 1987, approximately, he resided in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he lead Textus, a company dedicated to bringing MT to the personal computers that were just being introduced at the time.
