Army Physical Fitness Badge
The Physical Fitness Badge is an award of the United States Army and is presented to those soldiers who obtain a score of 290 (or higher) on the 300 point scale of the Armys physical fitness test. The Physical Fitness Badge is intended to recognize those who have excelled in physical fitness, which is one of the main areas of training for the United States military.
The badge was first authorized by the Secretary of the Army in June 1986. The first issuance was on October 1, 1986. The Physical Fitness Badge is the only official United States Army badge, recognized by the Institute of Heraldry, which cannot be worn on a dress military uniform. Regulations permit the wear of the Physical Fitness Badge on physical fitness clothing, only, and there are no provisions for displaying the award on any other uniform of the U.S. Army.
