Pixo Pixo

Pixo - Definition and Overview

Pixo is a company that develops infrastructure for wireless systems. It was founded in 1996, and as of 2003 was privately held. Their main product is the Pixo Mobile Download Server.

Pixo also produced a version of the operating system used in Apple Computer's iPod. This seems never to have been formally announced, although the iPod's "About iPod" display include a mention of Pixo, and a Connectix biography of their VP of engineering Mike Neil ([1] (http://www.connectix.com/about/bios.html)) mentions his role as "lead architect on the Pixo OS that is used in ... the Apple iPod".

On June 26, 2003, Sun Microsystems announced its intention to acquire Pixo.
