Planck is a proposed artificial satellite the European Space Agency would launch in 2007. Planck's purpose would be to measure the cosmic microwave background radiation. Further, the Agency claims Planck would help determine the age of the universe and whether it will eventually expand or collapse. The Agency named the proposed satellite for the German physicist Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck.
