Polabians are a Slavic people historically dwelling in the basin of the Elbe and on the Baltic coast of Germany. They became germanized during the late middle ages. Germans and Franks referred to them as Wends, as they generally did to Western Slavs. The term Polabian is Slavic and refers to their position along the river Elbe (Czech Labe) |
