Polegate Polegate

Polegate - Definition and Overview

Polegate is a town in East Sussex, England on the A27. It is now a suburb of Eastbourne.

Polegate originally lay on the edge of the Pevensey Marshes, and on a Roman road from Pevensey to Lewes. Attractions in the town include a windmill, built in 1817, and the Cuckoo Trail footpath, built on a disused railway line. The town has a railway station on the Hastings to Lewes line.
