Pookah - Definition and Overview

Pookah in Irish mythology and folklore is a small demon or nature spirit of evil intent. A pookah's actions could be as insignificant as pranks and inconvenience, or they could result in disease, crop failures, and starvation. A belief in pookahs was also found in England and Wales, and Shakespeare's character of Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream is a pookah/puck.
