Portland International Airport is the major airport serving Portland, Oregon and is the largest airport in Oregon.
Its IATA airport code is PDX. It is served by the MAX light rail Red Line. Portland International Airport has passenger service to other destinations in the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, Japan and Germany.
If Project Bojinka had not been discovered after a fire in Manila, Philippines, one aircraft owned by Delta Airlines flying from this airport would have blown up over the South China Sea on January 21, 1995 as part of the project's first phase.
At one time, Delta Air Lines based a lot of Asia operations from Portland. However, the Asian stock market plunge hurt their business. To make matters worse, passengers were complaining about treatment from the FIS facility at Portland. Japanese travel agents warned consumers not to go there, and the city got the nickname "Deportland". Delta eventually pulled their flight to New Tokyo International Airport of Narita, Japan. On June 10, 2004, Northwest Airlines reintroduced flights to Narita International Airport, as New Tokyo International Airport is now known.

PDX has one terminal building divided into five concourses. A/B/C and D/E are on opposite sides of the terminal; they are connected beyond security checkpoints by a shuttle bus. There are postal services, (currently) free WiFi wireless internet access, and a childrens playroom.
