Picturesque Premantura is a quaint little village consisting of mostly private homes. It is located in the southernmost part of Istria and has been inhabited from the time of the Bronze Age.
The remains of rustic villas are evidence of Roman inhabitants who once enjoyed the pleasant climate, beautiful beaches and surrounding nature. A beautiful statue of Minerva was discovered here and today is exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Istria in the Town of Pula.
Be sure to visit the ancient Catholic Church built in the middle of the 17th Century.
The long, narrow Kamenjak Peninsula adds to Premantura's adventurous appeal. This peninsula is 9.5 km long and 1.5 km wide, stretching into the Adriatic Sea like a long arm.
Kamenjak encircles a 30 km coastline dotted with numerous inlets and miniature beaches. Its primeval beauty is augmented by small islands which reach out from the crystal blue sea.
In Premantura there are several well-stocked stores, a bank, and a medical clinic. Premantura is well known for its many fine restaurants and their rich cuisine of fresh fish and seafood specialities.
In the evenings, you may wish to visit one of several night bars, perhaps a discoteque, or simply take a pleasant stroll through the village.
