Progress - Definition and Overview |

Progress can refer to:
- The idea of a process in which societies or individuals become better or more modern (technologically and/or socially). To be able to decide if something is progressive or not, if something is better or more modern than something else, one has to have a clear concept of what it means for something to be good or to be modern, and in the case of modernity, whether it is desirable or undesirable.
- In economics specifically, the means of measuring progress towards desirable ends (e.g. better state services or more wealth or more access to means of creating it; i.e. opportunity as defined usually by some political ideology).
- Progress in philosophy, which is hard to measure,
- One of several political movements. In United States and other English-speaking countries, progressivism refers to a leftist ideology. In Denmark and Norway, Progress Party is a far-right party.
- The Progress spacecraft,
- Progress Software Corporation, the creator of Progress 4GL.
- In monarchies a Royal Progress is a formal tour of the state by its monarch.
