Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola - Definition

Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (It. Provincia del Verbano Cusio Ossola) is the northernmost province in the Italian region of Piedmont. Its capital is the city of Verbania.

It has an area of 2,255 sq km, and a total population of 159,040 (2001). There are 77 communes in the province (source: Italian institute of statistics Istat, see this link (http://www.upinet.it/indicatore.asp?id_statistiche=6)).
