Qinghai (Chinese: 青海; pinyin: Qīnghǎi; Wade-Giles: Ch'ing-hai; Postal System Pinyin: Tsinghai) is a province of the People's Republic of China, named after the enormous Qinghai Lake (Koko Nor).
HistoryQinghai was historically part of the Amdo province of Tibet. In 1928 it became a province of the then Republic of China. The Yellow River originates in the middle of the province, while the Yangtze and Mekong have their sources in the southern part.
