Rafael Moneo - Definition

José Rafael Moneo (born 1937) is a Spanish architect. He won the Pritzker Prize for architecture in 1996. He has taught architecture at various locations around the world.

Spanish constructions of his design include the renovation of the Villahermosa Palace in Madrid, the National Museum of Roman Art in Merida, Spain, an expansion of the Atocha Railway Station (also in Madrid), the Diestre Factory in Zaragoza and the headquarters of the Bankinter Bank (again, in Madrid).

Among his prominent U.S.-located designs are the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, the Charles Schwab GSB Housing at Stanford University, the Davis Art Museum at Wellesley College in Massachusetts and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts.
