Rakino Island - Definition and Overview |
Rakino Island is one of the many islands in the Hauraki Gulf, an arm of the Pacific Ocean to the northeast of Auckland, New Zealand.
The island is located to the northeast of Motutapu and Rangitoto Islands. It has an area of about 2 km2. It is sparsely populated, with less than 50 permanent residents, although the island's population swells with holidaymakers during the summer, with a number of Aucklanders having holday homes on the island.
