Raymond Williams - Definition and Overview

Raymond Williams (1921 - 1988) was a highly influential Welsh academic, novelist and critic. He attended Trinity College, Cambridge and became Professor of Drama at the University of Cambridge (1974 - 1983). A committed socialist, he was greatly interested in the relationships between language, literature, and society and published many books, essays and articles on these and other issues.
