Real Betis Balompié are a Spanish football club in Sevilla that was founded in 1907. The team currently plays in the Spanish first division. Its home stadium is the 62,000 seater Manuel Ruiz de Lopera and home colors are green and white.

Despite having a long history, they have only won the Spanish championship on one occasion in 1935, and the Copa del Rey (King's Cup) in 1977. The club came close to folding in 1991 when they were saved by vice chairman Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

They came very close to winning their second Copa del Rey in 1997 when they were pipped by FC Barcelona.

The team is most famous for their die-hard fans, called beticos, and their misuse of the Spanish language.
