Red Rose Speedway was Paul McCartney's follow-up to Wild Life and his fourth album since leaving the Beatles. It is a kind of cross between a solo work and a work with his new band, Wings. It was first released in 1973.
Only one single, "My Love", was released from the album. The album and single both reached number 1 in early June. "My Love" was described by McCartney as a "smootchy" ballad he wrote for his wife, Linda McCartney. It was his second #1 single since leaving the Beatles.
The back cover of the album contains a Braille message intended for Stevie Wonder, reading "We love ya, baby."
