Redneck Riviera - Definition |

The Redneck Riviera is a colloquialism for a stretch of the Gulf Coast of the southern United States that is known for its resorts and widely considered to have some of best beaches found worldwide. For many years, the beaches were also deemed to have the whitest sand in the world but recent hurricanes in the 1990s and 2000s have necessitated the addition of beige-colored sand, something that has angered residents of the area.
The area of coast is roughly bounded by Mobile, Alabama on the west and Panama City, Florida on the east.
Some people find this term offensive. See "Redneck."
This area may or may not correspond to the Emerald Riviera, or the Emerald Coast.
Panama City Beach, Florida also claims this as a nickname.
