Reiderland is a municipality in the northeastern Netherlands.

It is one of the only three municipalities in the Netherlands that have communist counsillors (the other two are Heiloo and Lemsterland). The New Communist Party of the Netherlands is even the largest party in Reiderland (44%).

Nieuweschans

Nieuweschans (population as of 2001: 1570) is a small town surrounded by large fortifications built in the Eighty Years War, located on the Dutch-German border. Close to the town is the easternmost point of the Netherlands.
