Republican democracy is a republic which is defined to give its people democratic rights. One could argue that the name "Republic" (meaning: "Public affair"/"object for the people") embodies the notion of a democratically elected government, making the term "Republican democracy" appear redundant. However there are abundant examples where the usage of the word "republic" is primarily a way to define a goverment as not being a monarchy even though the people of the republic clearly have not been granted democratic rights.
