Research Machines (RM) is the leading supplier of software, services and systems to UK education. RM were founded in 1973 by Mike Fischer and Mike O'Regan. As of 2003, RM had 1400 employees, the majority based in their headquarters located on Milton Park, Oxfordshire.

During the 1980s the company was a supplier of microcomputers to the education sector, producing the 380Z, Link 480Z and Nimbus PC-186 models.

The company offer many services. Most of these are aimed at the primary and secondary education market, including an Internet Filter for educational institutions. However, this is widely regarded to be extremely poor, as it filters such informative sites as Wikipedia, Ordnance Survey and Google Image Search. RM are accused of being lacklustre in addressing such issues, and have been known to claim that filtered sites do not exist, when they clearly do.
