History
In 1995 as part of the compensatory actions under the Berlin / Bonn law to support the structural change in the region of Bonn this reasearch center was founded. The Independent foundation is based under private law with a foundation capital from the government of Germany and the State North Rhine-Westphalia.
In April 1999 the first research projects started. The Research projects are located at the interface of physics, mathematics, chemistry, medicine, biology and information sciences.
About 220 persons from 12 nations are working at caesar (as of October 2004)
