He was born in 933 in Fecamp, France to William I of Normandy, Duke of Normandy and Adela, daughter of Hubert I, Count of Senlis.

Life

Marriages

He was first married to Emma of Paris (Duchess of Normandy) in 960. No issue.

His second marriage was to Gunnora of Crepon.

They had 6 children:

  • Richard II, Duke of Normandy (The Good),
  • Robert, Archbishop of Rouen, Count of Evreux,
  • Mauger, Earl of Corbeil,
  • Emma of Normandy,
  • Hawise of Normandy, wife of Geoffrey I, Duke of Brittany,
  • Maud of Normandy, wife of Odo I, Count of Blois, Champagne and Chartres.

Death

He died in Fecamp, France on November 20, 996 at the age of 64 of natural causes.
