Richard Lupoff (born February 21, 1935) is a science fiction author. He is also a long-time participant in science fiction fandom.
From 1960-1963, Lupoff and his wife, Pat, published a fanzine called Xero, which published articles by a wide array of fans and authors, including such luminaries as Avram Davidson, Roger Ebert, Harlan Ellison and James Blish. In 1963, Xero received the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine. In 2004, a hardcover Best of Xero was published by Tachyon Press.
Lupoff wrote reviews for the fanzine Algol and was an expert on the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
Lupoff began publishing fiction in 1967 with the novel One Million Centuries and went on to write several novels and short stories, often using pseudonyms. Among his most famous novels are the duology Circumpolar! (1984) and Circumsolar! (1985). His short fiction which has been collected many times, includes the story "12:01 P.M." and "With the Bentfin Boomer Boys on Little Old New Alabama."
Lupoff's most famous pseudonym is "Ova Hamlet," a name he frequently used for parody or satirical work.
