The Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac Railroad (RF&P, AAR reporting mark RFP) was a railroad in between the independent cities of Richmond and Alexandria in Virginia. It was formed on February 25, 1834. It is now a portion of the CSX Transportation system.

Linking North & South: a bridge line

The RF&P was a bridge line. as recognized by its logo as "Linking North & South". (A bridge line has more traffic passing through its connections with other railroads than it originates or terminates at points along the line).

For the major portion of its' existence, the RF&P connected with the Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Coast Line railroads at Richmond. At Alexandria and through trackage rights to Union Station at Washington, DC, connections were made with the Pennsylvania Railroad, Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, and Southern Railway.
