Rick Atkinson is a journalist and author. He was a writer and editor at the Washington Post for twenty years. His writing generally focuses on the United States Army. Among his bestselling books are The Long Gray Line, Crusade, and An Army at Dawn which won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for history. During the 2003 Invasion of Iraq he was an embedded journalist with the 101st Airborne Division an experience he recounted in his book, In the Company of Soldiers.
