Ridwan Ridwan

Ridwan - Definition

Fakhr al-Mulk Radwan (also Ridwan; probably died in 1113) was a Seljuk ruler of Syria from 1095 to 1113 and the son in law of Yaghi-Siyan, the Atabeg of Antioch. Radwan revolted against his younger brother Duqaq who inherited Syria and Damascus from their father, Tutush I. The realm was split and Radwan established Aleppo as his capital. Upon Duqaq's death in 1104, two weak rulers followed him in Damascus and Radwan probably captured the city the same year. The throne remained in Aleppo, however. Upon his death, Radwan was succeeded by Alp Arslan al-Akhras.
