River Wyre - Definition

The River Wyre is a river in Lancashire, England that flows into the Irish Sea at Fleetwood.

Rising in the Forest of Bowland in central Lancashire it flows south through Garstang where it meets its major tributary, the River Calder, followed by the River Brock. Flowing west until it becomes tidal near Poulton-le-Fylde, it defines the north-eastern limit of the peninsula known as the Fylde. The ferry between Fleetwood and Douglas, Isle of Man departs from its mouth on the Irish Sea.
