Robert Todd Carroll, Ph.D., is a philosophy teacher at Sacramento City College, author of Becoming a Critical Thinker — A Guide for the New Millennium (ISBN 0536600600) and The Skeptic's Dictionary: A Collection of Strange Beliefs, Amusing Deceptions, and Dangerous Delusions (ISBN 0471272426).
He received his Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego in 1974.
A long time advocate of critical thinking, in 1994 he setup Skeptic's Dictionary online, initially covering 50 articles from a skeptical viewpoint. The site, known as www.skepdic.com has now grown to over 400 articles and attracts over a million page views per month.
He published "Becoming a Critical Thinker" in the year 2000, (Pearson) and in late 2003 John Wiley & Sons published "The Skeptic's Dictionary" in book format.
