The Rock Bottom Remainders are a rock & roll band that consist of mostly popular English book, magazine, and newspaper authors. The band gets its name from the book industry's name for so-called "bargain books" found in superstores: remainders.
The band members are Dave Barry, Ridley Pearson, Stephen King, Scott Turow, Amy Tan, James McBride, Mitch Albom, Roy Blount Jr., Matt Groening, Kathi Kamen Goldmark, and Greg Iles. Band members collaborated on a book about the band, Mid-Life Confidential.
The band's members have freely admitted their lack of musical talent. Dave Barry, for instance, has been quoted as saying: "We play music as well as Metallica writes novels."
