Rockwell is a typeface belonging to the family of so-called slabserif typefaces, where the serifs are about as thick as the main strokes in every letter. This makes it useful primarily for decorative purposes and headlines less than long text bodies.
It is based on an earlier, more condensed slabserif design called Litho Antique, its 1933 design for Monotype was supervised by Frank Hinman Pierpont.
