Roda JC came into being by the merger of several football clubs from Kerkrade. In the fifties Rapid '54 and amateur club Juliana went together and became Rapid JC. After Rapid JC won the Dutch league in 1956, Rapid JC fused in 1962 with Roda Sport and became Roda JC. Since the promotion in 1973, Roda JC hasn't been relegated and reached the Dutch Cup final 5 times.
