Roger Mudd, born February 9, 1928 in Washington, D.C., is a U.S. television journalist. A former reporter for the CBS Evening News, Mudd was candidate in 1981 to receive Walter Cronkite's position as anchor for the CBS Evening News. The position was given instead to Dan Rather, who continues the job through today.

Mudd still occasionally hosts History Channel documentaries about politics, as well as educational videos.
