Ron Hextall - Definition

Born the 3rd of May, 1964 in Brandon, MB Canada, Ron Hextall was a professional hockey player. December 8th, 1987, Hextall became the first goalie in NHL History to legitimatly score a goal. Although he was not the first NHL Goalie to be credited with a goal, as Billy Smith was, Ron was the first one to actually put the puck in the net. Billy Smith of the NHL's New York Islands was the first goalie to score a goal only due to the fact he was the last player of the opposite team to touch the puck before it went into the net. Ron Hextall was also the winner of the prestige Vezina Trophy (NHL's Best Goaltender) and the Conn Smythe Trophy (NHL Playoff MVP)
