The rose subfamily Rosoideae includes many shrubs and perennial herbs. Only a few are annual herbs.
The following classification is based on the study by Torsten Eriksson and others, published in the International Journal of Plant Science 164: 197-211 (2003; at link below).

- subtribus Agrimoniinae
- genera Agrimonia, Aremonia, Hagenia, Leucosidea, Spenceria
- tribus Potentilleae
- genera Potentilla
- possibly the genera Comarella, Purpusia, Stellariopsis,
- genera of subtribus Fragariinae
- subtribus Fragariinae
- genera Alchemilla (with Aphanes but probably also Lachemilla and Zygalchemilla)
- Chamaerhodos, Comarum, Dasiphora (Pentaphylloides), Drymocallis, Fragaria,
- Sibbaldia, Sibbaldiopsis.
- some species, classified as Potentilla, may to be included here.
- genus Potentilla : the clade Potentilla includes Argentina, Duchesnea, Horkelia, Ivesia, and probably Horkeliella. Potential candidates for inclusion are : the genera Comarella, Purpusia, and Stellariopsis.
