Rusty Foster - Definition and Overview

Rusty Foster is the founder of Kuro5hin.

Rusty is the creator of Scoop, a collaborative media application that kuro5hin and other websites use. He is widely known in the weblog community for successfully running a donation drive, an endeavor which earned him over US$35,000.

Rusty has entered the political arena, partnering up with weblog moguls such as Markos Moulitsas Zúniga of Daily Kos. This new consulting firm, Armstrong Zuniga, hopes to tap into the market of building and operating weblog communities on behalf of political parties and interest groups.

A long-running joke is that Rusty wears a monocle and enjoys yachting. The joke is a reference to the success of Kuro5hin's pledge drive.

At 9:28 AM on December 16, 2004, Rusty's first child, Elinor Rose Foster, was born to his wife. She was 7 lbs 3 oz with a "stock finger/toe option package, delivered by a surprise ceasarian because we discovered she was breach after about ten hours of normal labor" to quote Rusty's self-penned birth announcement (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2004/12/18/55629/572).
