 The Staples Center is the center of the future Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment District which broke ground in 2004. The Staples Center as seen in daylight Staples Center is a sports arena in downtown Los Angeles, California at the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment District. It is located near the intersection of Interstate highways I-10 and I-110. It is named for the Staples office-supply company, one of the center's corporate sponsors.

The center opened in 1999, and seats approximately 19,000 for basketball and 16,000 for ice hockey.
Staples Center was the venue for the 2000 Democratic National Convention.
