Saab 9-5 - Definition and Overview

The Saab 9-5 is an automobile made by Saab. It was introduced in 1997 as the new high-end automobile. It is in the same class as the Saab 9000. During 1998 both the 9000 and 9-5 were sold, but from 1999 the 9-5 replaced 9000 entirely. The base is Opel Vectra's, but tweaked a lot so it would still drive like a Saab as well as made longer and wider. The cw value is 0,29 for the sedan and 0,31 for the combi coupé. There is also a station wagon (estate) version.

One high powered version of the 9-5 is the Aero.

The car is actually badged as a 95, but Saab consistently advertises it as the 9-5.

The 9-5 is powered by Saab's B204 and B234 straight-4 turbo engines, as well as General Motors' 54° V6.

The 9-5 should not be confused with the Saab 95.

The 9-5 will be replaced by 2008 with a 9-4 based on the GM Epsilon platform or a larger 9-6.
