Saatchi Gallery - Definition and Overview

The Saatchi Gallery, a gallery for modern art was opened by Charles Saatchi in London, Spring 2003 and takes up 40,000 ft² (3,700 m²) of space at County Hall, the Greater London Council's former headquarters on the South Bank.

Typical exhibits are by Young British Artists, including works by Jake and Dinos Chapman, Damien Hirst, and Tracey Emin.

On 24 May, 2004, a fire in a storage warehouse destroyed many works from the collection. One art insurance specialist valued the lost work at £50m.
