Sacred Heart University is a Roman Catholic university located in suburban Fairfield, Connecticut, along the border with Bridgeport.
Founded in 1963, Sacred Heart was the first Catholic university in the United States to be staffed by the laity. Although founded as a commuter school, the university began housing residents in 1990.
