Saga, Saga - Definition and Overview

Saga (佐賀市; -shi) is the capital of Saga Prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 167,013 and a population density of 1,609.61 persons per km². The total area is 103.76 km².

The city was founded on April 1, 1889.
