Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!, Quebec - Definition and Overview

Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha! is a parish (a small town) of Quebec, Canada, located near the St. Lawrence River. Its population is 1,471. The parish is situated at 47°40' N, 68°59' W. Its economy is mainly agricultural.

Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!'s motto is Solidaire dans le labeur, French for Interdependent in Work. Its current mayor is Donald Viel.

The name is believed to be an alteration of haha, a term for a fence in a ditch. Another story holds that the founders, in 1873, would have sighed an "Ah! Ah!" of admiration on discovering nearby Lake Témiscouata. Then, say the locals, the scribe probably misspelled the expression.
