Salt Lake Valley is a valley in north-central Utah located in Salt Lake County. It contains Salt Lake City and many of its suburbs. The valley is surrounded in every direction except the northwest by steep mountains that sometimes rise to an impressive 6,000 feet (1,850 m) above the valley floor. It borders the Wasatch Mountains on the east, the Oquirrh Mountains on the west, and the Great Salt Lake on the northwest.
